About Us:
As a program of Upper Murray Family Care, the Hume Riverina Community Legal Service is a non-government, community-managed program offering a range of quality services that are responsive to the varying needs of communities extending from the cities of Albury/Wodonga and Wangaratta to townships throughout the Towong, Alpine and Indigo shires, as well as 10 additional LGA's throughout the Southern Riverina of NSW.

How You’ll Make a Difference:
This is a crucial role within our organisation that will see you providing trauma-informed legal advice and referrals to priority clients, while supervising junior lawyers to empower them to meet their full potential and make a tangible impact in the community.
As our next Senior Lawyer, you will enjoy varied and rewarding work where you will have the opportunity to provide advice on a range of legal matters, including child protection, tenancy, family violence, and more.
Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Provide high-quality legal advice, information, referrals and ongoing casework to priority clients
- Provide leadership, professional expertise, supervision, mentoring and support to one or more Generalist Lawyers, volunteers, law students and PLT students as required
- Engage in appropriate Law Reform and Community Legal Education activities as per requirements set out within Funding Agreements, Strategic Plan, Community Legal Service/Centre Program Plan (CLSP/CLCP) and workplan.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
To be considered for this role, you must hold relevant tertiary legal qualifications and be eligible for a Practising Certificate in Victoria. You’ll also need to have post-admission experience of at least 5 years as a Lawyer.
Previous experience in advising and handling cases related to family law, family violence, and civil law will be highly regarded; otherwise, the ability to learn quickly without prior experience in these areas will be essential.
Your proven ability to supervise staff and develop effective teams will be critical to your continued success at the Hume Riverina Community Legal Service, as will your ability to work collaboratively in an integrated service setting.

- A satisfactory Victorian and NSW Working with Children Check
- A satisfactory Police Check
- Evidence of full COVID-19 Vaccination
- Current driver’s license
