Thanks to continued Service growth, we now have 2 roles available in our Kinship Team, which is part of our Care Services program in Wodonga (or Wangaratta by negotiation).

How You'll Make a Difference:

As a Kinship Practitioner, you’ll be working collaboratively with a team who provide support and advice to kinship carers as well as case management to existing Statutory Kinship arrangements to ensure positive outcomes for vulnerable children and families throughout North East Victoria.

Children in Kinship Care are either placed with extended family members or members of their community. Kinship Care is the preferred care option for children who are unable to live with their parents due to protective concerns.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Using trauma-informed approaches, work to build the capacity of kinship carers to better understand and respond to the needs of the children and young people in their care; promoting their safety, stability and healthy development
  • Undertaking comprehensive kinship carer assessments and assisting Child Protection to determine placement suitability
  • Co-ordinating and facilitating relevant meetings
  • Assisting with the establishment, monitoring and ongoing support of statutory clients referred by Child Protection for kinship placements

What You'll Bring to the Team:

To be considered for this position you will need a tertiary qualification in Social Work or equivalent with relevant case management experience. Applicants who have worked within the Child Protection system or in roles with an interface with Child Protection will be highly regarded.

Other requirements include:

  • NSW and Vic WWCC
  • Police Check
  • Drivers Licence
