We now have a rewarding opportunity for a skilled Practitioner to join our Family Preservation and Reunification Response (FPRR) team in either Wodonga or Wangaratta on a part-time (0.8 FTE) or full-time basis. This is a 12 month contract with the opportunity to extend, subject to funding.

Your Next Opportunity:

As our next FPRR Practitioner, you’ll be providing targeted support to children and families where the children are at risk of entering care systems, or where safe reunification within the household is appropriate.

This is a unique opportunity to directly impact the outcomes of vulnerable children and families by employing a child and family-centred approach to your work and overseeing a low caseload of about four cases. This will allow you to provide targeted and intensive support services to your clients on an ongoing basis.

Note: This role is being offered as part of a 12 month contract, with the opportunity to extend (subject to funding). The position can be performed either on a full-time or part-time (0.8 FTE) basis. 

Responsibilities Include:

  • Visiting clients in their homes throughout the East Hume region (using a company vehicle) 
  • Communicating with external partners and agencies, including the Department of Child Protection, as necessary
  • Developing and implementing therapeutic support service plans to children and families

What We Need From You:

To be considered for this position, you will need to possess a tertiary qualification in a discipline related to social work, e.g. a Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Psychology, a Diploma of Welfare Studies, or similar. 

You should also have highly developed communication skills which will allow you to engage effectively with not just your clients but also external stakeholders such as the Department of Child Protection and other service providers throughout the region.

Your emotional intelligence, interpersonal skills, and empathetic demeanour will enable you to navigate complex situations with poise while also instilling a sense of confidence in your clients. 

Other requirements include:

  • Experience working in a collaborative environment with child protection services
  • The demonstrated ability to convene and chair care team meetings
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation as it applies to the Social Work sector
