We seek an enthusiastic Family Preservation and Reunification Practitioner to join our dedicated and supportive team based in our Wodonga or Wangaratta offices.

About the Opportunity

Reporting to the Team Leader Specialised Programs, the successful candidate will provide therapeutic and trauma-informed support that engages the voice and choice, cultural identity and lived expertise of children and their families and carers. You will provide complex case work with children and families to build capacity and enable sustainable change and positive family functioning.

Child safety and wellbeing are at the crux of all we do. You will be immersed in a wealth of experience and an enriching community. Always exploring new alternatives to make a difference, you will be motivated to see the results of your interactions with your clients.

Key Responsibility Areas of this role will include (but are not limited to):

  • Rapidly engage families to provide intensive, therapeutic, trauma, and evidence-informed support that is centred around creating wellbeing and safety for the child, building parental/caregiver capacity and improving family functioning
  • Provide high-quality child-centred, family-focused casework to expecting parents and families with children aged 0-17.
  • Involve children and families in the development, implementation and review of Child & Family Action Plans.
  • Promote and support a culture of child safety in a culturally sensitive manner
  • Participate in professional development opportunities

About You

To be eligible to apply for this position, you'll require a tertiary qualification in Social work or equivalent, as well as demonstrated experience working therapeutically with complex and vulnerable families. We're seeking a candidate who can apply strength-based assessments to family situations and engage and work with complex family situations.

While knowledge of the Children Youth and Families Act 2005, the Best Interests Case Practice Model 2008, and other relevant legislation, including OH&S and privacy laws, will be beneficial in this role, they are not essential for success.

All candidates will need to possess or be able to obtain prior to commencement:

  • Working with Children Check - Victoria and NSW
  • Satisfactory National Police Check
  • Current driver's licence

Importantly, you will be a team player with strong communication skills, highly developed analytical and problem-solving skills, and good levels of resilience. This role requires you to manage competing priorities and interact with people with a range of abilities and needs.
