We seek a Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner to join our multidisciplinary team located in Wodonga, Victoria. Working within our Family Relationship Services team, this is a critical role that will see successful candidates providing high-quality dispute resolution services and assisting separated families in resolving disputes and developing parenting arrangements.

Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner

The successful candidate will provide high-quality, efficient services in line with UMFC's values of Participation, Respect, Excellence, Justice and Honesty. This role provides intake, assessment, mediation, referral and support for our clients in children’s and property matters. The primary responsibilities of the role include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide family dispute resolution to clients experiencing family separation;
  • Assisting with conflict resolution and the development of parenting plans;
  • Management of caseloads in line with all regulatory and agency guidelines and policies;
  • Foster a collaborative working relationship with other Family Relationship Services programs and external agencies; and
  • Supporting a culture that promotes child safety and child inclusive processes.

What you'll bring to UMFC

To be eligible to apply for this position you will require a tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Law, Social Sciences or equivalent, you must be registered with the Australian Government Attorney General's Department Register of Family Dispute Resolution Practitioners (or be currently enrolled and studying to obtain the Graduate Diploma of Family Dispute Resolution with an accredited training provider). Your knowledge and understanding of the Family Law Act 1975 is essential and a thorough understanding of the child and family service system and legal system will be highly advantageous.

All candidates will need to possess or be able to obtain prior to commencement:

  • Working with Children Check - Victoria and NSW.
  • Satisfactory National Police Check.
  • Current driver's licence.

Most importantly, you will bring excellent communication and interpersonal skills and a desire to make a significant difference to children and families experiencing separation.
